Here comes Santa Claus....

Today we took Mason to the Mall for his once in a lifetime picture...crying on Santa's lap.

First, we thought that we would try to make it a fun day for Mason (mostly so he wasn't emotionally scared by the day) by riding the train that was set up (conviently) in the same area as Santa.

Of course we couldn't convince Mason to sit on Santa's lap. Instead we opted for the stand-up next to Santa shot.

And then to try to erase the sadness, we were back on the train. This time, Mason was up front in the coal car. Luckily, they weren't sitting on coal.

Holiday lights...

We took a trip up to see the lights at temple square this last weekend. It was a cold trip, especially with all the newly fallen snow around on the ground. Luckily, it wasn't snowing on us.

Mason was not a fan of keeping his fingers inside the blanket (and in one picture you can see he wanted his hat gone too). And he is definitely not a fan of mittens or gloves.

We tried many alternatives, until finally we put a sweatshirt on over his jacket. The long arms of the sweatshirt finally kept his fingers warm.

I think he decided that it didn't bother him too much. But it did make him look like an ewok.

Mason's New Chair...

I bought this storage box over the weekend to store the clothes that Mason has outgrown. I don't think he got the memo, because he seems to think it is for him.

For a few days he had fun pushing it around. He'd even load it up with his important things and push those around too.

The other day, he decided it was for him. So he climbed in and wouldn't get out. He read books in it. He ate cookies in it (yummy homemade oatmeal chocolate chip ones). He even ate dinner in it.

And then when dinner was over, I pushed him over to the TV and he watched a movie while I ate dinner (Baby Einstein's World Animals, one of his favorites).

I think he thought he was going to get to sleep in it too. But I had other ideas in mind, so it was off to his crib that night.

Yum! Thanksgiving...

We gathered at Michelle's for a yummy Thanksgiving feast. There was tons of food (which means we all got lots of leftovers).

Mason really enjoys eating mashed potatoes. Can you tell?

Is that Brig in a sweater?

I think I finally figured out how to get Brig in a sweater.....Matching sweaters with Mason!

I think I may have struck something here. Hmmm...I wonder if they could have matching coats for when in snows.

Double Bink...

Mason discovered that his mouth was big enough for two binkies.

I guess this takes the spare binky concept to a new level.

I Love Global Warming...

Does it look like it is November? Ok, so maybe there are no leaves on the trees and there isn't much that looks green in these pictures, but where is that little boy's coat?

No worries, Brig wasn't slacking again...nope. He had the jacket with him (or so he claims). But it was a nice sunny day. Maybe the temperature was in the low 60s.

It probably was a "warm before the storm" type deal because it is supposed to go down into the 30s tonight.

But I am having a hard time believing that global warming is a bad thing...especially if it means that winter is weeks, rather than months.

Happy Halloween
...

Mason had a great time trick-or-treating in his Monkey costume. It was a beautiful, cool night. Our only complaint is that the new daylight savings time change meant it was light until about 7 pm.

So Mason headed out with all the other little kids who were up past their bedtime to collect their treats (and hopefully keep the tricks to a minimum).

Getting Ready for Halloween...

We had lots of activities to get ready for Halloween this year.

On Friday we went to a Halloween Party.

On Saturday we went to Michelle's to decorate halloween cookies (pictured: us sampling the dough).

And then on Monday night we carved our pumpkins.

All in anticipation of Halloween.

Skateboarding (Part II)....

So I promised Mason that he would go out with his Dad and that they could skateboard together when he got home. (Otherwise he kept trying to jam it into my fridge...which isn't my idea of fun).

Here they are riding together and you can see Mason got in some solo rides. Mason loves the skateboard and cries when it's time to put it away.

Picking out Pumpkins...
We had a great time last Friday afternoon picking out our pumpkins for jack-o-laterns.

Mason made a bee-line for giant pumpkins; however, we decided that we probably would stick to pumpkins that were smaller than him.

He was very helpful in finding a pumpkin for everyone.

Our next order of business....Carving our pumpkins.

Blowing Kissess...

Mason wants to send a kiss out to his fans. Mwah. Mwah.

Skateboard....
Mason was very proud of himself when he dug through a big pile (Brig cleaned out the back of his car) and pulled out the skateboard. He took down a few items in his quest for this wheeled item (he loves to push things on wheels).

He knew just what to do too when he got it down...as you can see from the photos.

Luckily he doesn't go too far or try to do any tricks, so we don't need a helmet and pads yet.

Yummy....
Mason is a champion with his utensils. He is very determined to use them and he does an ok job (when he isn't trying to take food out of the serving bowl...which he does well....it's just he keeps going back with the same spoon ).

Here he is mastering eating cereal in milk (as opposed to the way I try to serve it...next to milk). As you can see the spoon got tedious in the end, so he opted for the dog approach.

At least I know that he learned the dog method from Koa and Riley...I'd be pretty embarassed if I said it was from me.

Pumpkin Patches...

We've been touring the corn field mazes and pumpkin patches around town.

We got a great pumpkin to carve. And Mason had a great time with all the activities. He loves to run through corn mazes...luckily he didn't get lost.

Shoeshine Kid...

Mason is a great helper. Today he thought he could help his dad by shining his shoes. I guess Mason was tired of looking at his Dad's unpolished shoes.

Mason's New Ride...

So Mason finally got a backpack so that he could travel in style on our hikes. Brig was so excited to break it in that he insisted that he had an assignment for school that required us to go into the canyon and hike to see the changing leaves.

So here we are (in the rain) on the maiden voyage of Mason's backpack. The leaves were beautiful...too bad the weather wouldn't cooperate.
